The video tutorials on the devs website looked pretty impressive (though the lack of audio for most of them is frustrating and sloppy), so I was willing to forgive the unusual, nonstandard user interface. I managed to struggle through some pretty intense editing using cloning, curves, masking, etc. and what I ended up with was pretty good for a first attempt in a program with a steep learning curve.
But then came the unforgivable: I wanted to step back through some edits Id made. Id already noticed there didnt seem to be any "undo" (a fairly egregious violation of the "recovery" usability heuristic), so I was excited to see a History menu in the top level menus. Pleased, I tapped on the only choice, Original. With not so much as a confirmation dialog on what was a completely destructive action, I found myself back at my original, unedited image. After several hours of work, I was more than frustrated. Sorry, Filterstorm Neue, if you dont give me a chance to recover from my destitute action, Im not giving you a chance to recover or redeem yourself.
